FAIRFIELD, NJ —Fujitsu General America today announced that its 55-inch high definition Plasmavision SlimScreen monitor, model P55XHA30WS, is the recipient of a prestigious Innovations Award at the 2004 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The award distinguishes the industry's first 55-inch plasma monitor for its exceptional design and performance and further solidifies Fujitsu's leadership position in the flat panel display market.

"Winning the Innovations Award reinforces to consumers, dealers and our competitors that Plasmavision is synonymous with top quality performance and outstanding design," said Tedd Rozylowicz, executive vice president of Fujitsu General America. "We're proud that this innovative plasma monitor was recognized by industry leaders, who clearly understood the groundbreaking nature of its exclusive Extended Alternate Lighting of Surfaces (e-ALiS) technology as well as its distinctive screen size, which provides an unmatched alternative to the market."

The Innovations Awards program recognizes products that exhibit excellence in design and engineering at CES. The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) endorses and acts as advisors to the program, and a panel of prominent industry designers, engineers and journalists served as judges over the Innovations 2004 Design and Engineering Awards.

Fujitsu's Plasmavision model P55XHA30WS is the industry's first 55-inch model featuring e-ALiS technology. The P55XHA30WS complements Fujitsu's full line of five Plasmavision monitors, including two 42-inch models, a 50-inch model and a 63-inch model. (See separate press release for additional details.)

The P55XHA30WS: Industry's First 55-inch Monitor, World's First With e-ALiS Technology

Fujitsu's exclusive e-ALiS technology sets the P55XHA30WS apart from other plasma monitors. This extension of the company's ALiS technology was developed by Fujitsu for plasma monitors larger than 50 inches. It utilizes progressive scan technology and yields exceptionally sharp big-screen image quality with superlative color accuracy and ultra high brightness.

The widescreen (16:9) P55XHA30WS incorporates a high-definition 1366 x 768 pixel panel that boasts a 160-degree viewing angle and can display the output from virtually any home theater video source. Using a new 10-bit processing system, the P55XHA30WS produces more than 1.07 billion colors to represent on screen images in their natural color.

For optimal reception of all digital television broadcasts, the P55XHA30WS features a DVI-D digital input with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). This provides a direct digital connection to the latest high-end video devices - such as a satellite system or an HDTV set-top box - to provide crystal-clear high definition digital images.

A high-quality stereo amplifier with external speaker outputs and volume, treble, bass and balance controls is also featured in the P55XHA30WS to facilitate its use in multimedia applications or as a complete video plus stereo-audio system using optional matching speakers.

Exclusive Advanced Video Movement (AVM) Processor For Superlative Image Quality

Key to the enhanced image quality of all Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors is the inclusion of the company's proprietary Advanced Video Movement (AVM) processor. This exclusive technology virtually eliminates motion artifacts and flicker, improves vertical resolution and reproduces natural movement with ease. In addition, the processor's built-in line doubler converts NTSC signals and uses different types of processing for moving and still pictures, yielding smoother images with more natural movement and without visible scan lines. With AVM, high-definition television and DVD signals are also optimized for the characteristics of the plasma display panel, to achieve extraordinary image quality that is noticeably superior to competitive models.

All Fujitsu monitors are slim-profile designs measuring just a few inches in depth, facilitating wall-, ceiling- or stand-mounting in custom installation home theater systems, with a chassis design that enables all connecting cables to be easily and invisibly installed. Their elegant appearance, featuring a front bezel with crisp, defined angles and a rich metallic silver finish, complements every home entertainment system and living environment. In addition, controls on the monitor itself are located on the right front edge for easy access, and are styled to discreetly blend with the monitor's appearance.

All Plasmavision monitors are supplied with an ergonomic remote control that gives installers and users access to a menu system with comprehensive control of the monitor's functions and picture adjustments. The monitors also feature a wide array of video and audio connections plus RS-232 control ports for integrated system operation.

The P55XHA30WS Plasmavision SlimScreen plasma monitor will be available this month for a suggested retail price of $14,999.
