FAIRFIELD, NJ-Fujitsu General America, the leader in plasma display technology, is introducing three upgraded versions of its acclaimed Plasmavision SlimScreen plasma display monitors at CEDIA 2003. The high-definition 50-inch P50XHA30 and 42-inch P42HHA30, and the 42-inch P42VHA30, offer upgraded performance and features compared to the previous models, and join Fujitsu's new high-definition 63-inch P63XHA and 55-inch P55XHA Plasmavision monitors (see related release), to create the industry's broadest lineup of high-performance plasma displays for consumer applications.

The P50XHA30, P42HHA30 and P42VHA30 all include advanced plasma panel and digital video technologies to deliver superlative image quality with improved brightness and contrast, such as Fujitsu's proprietary, image-enhancing AVM (Advanced Video Movement) processor, and DVI-D digital inputs with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) for optimum reception of all digital television broadcasts. In addition, the monitors are designed for unmatched custom installation versatility, offering placement options that include wall-, ceiling- or stand-mounting, along with a wide array of video and audio connections plus RS-232 control ports for integrated system operation.

Exclusive Advanced Video Movement (AVM) Processor For Superlative Image Quality

Key to the enhanced image quality of the new Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors is the inclusion of Fujitsu's proprietary Advanced Video Movement (AVM) processor. This exclusive technology virtually eliminates motion artifacts and flicker, improves vertical resolution and reproduces natural movement with ease. In addition, the processor's built-in line doubler converts NTSC signals and uses different types of processing for moving and still pictures, yielding smoother images with more natural movement and without visible scan lines. With AVM, high-definition television (HDTV) and DVD signals are also optimized for the characteristics of the plasma display panel, to achieve extraordinary image quality that is noticeably superior to competitive models.

Total Display Versatility

The P50XHA30, P42HHA30 and P42VHA30 are all designed to provide maximum custom installation flexibility, and can display the widest variety of digital and analog video program sources including HDTV sources and the video output from a computer. Adding to their Convergent Visual Medium versatility, all three monitors include a DVI-D digital video input with HDCP. This connection enables best-quality reception of all digital television broadcasts including copy-protected broadcasts, with direct digital input of high-definition television signals. All models also provide a comprehensive suite of A/V inputs including component video inputs, S-video, composite video and analog RGB video inputs, plus stereo audio inputs and external speaker outputs.

The P50XHA30, P42HHA30 and P42VHA30 are all slim-profile designs measuring just a few inches in depth, facilitating wall-, ceiling- or stand-mounting in custom installation home theater systems, with a chassis design that enables all connecting cables to be easily and invisibly installed. Their elegant appearance, featuring a front bezel with crisp, defined angles and a rich metallic silver finish, complements every home entertainment system and living environment.

P50XHA30: Extraordinary High-Definition Plasma Performance

Building on the strengths of previous 50-inch Fujitsu models, Fujitsu's high-definition, widescreen (16:9) P50XHA30 incorporates a high-resolution 1366 x 768 pixel panel that can display the output from virtually any home theater video source, including true 1080i and 720p High Definition Television (HDTV) and SDTV 480i and 480p signals. In addition to its DVI-D digital input with HDCP, the P50XHA30 accepts the video output from a computer up to UXGA resolution and includes an additional component video input as well as S-video, composite video and analog RGB video connections.

Like all Fujitsu Plasmavision monitors, the P50XHA30 includes a host of additional advanced features for maximum installation versatility in home theater and commercial applications. It is supplied with an ergonomic remote control that gives installers and users access to a menu system with comprehensive control of the monitor's functions and picture adjustments. In addition, controls on the monitor itself are located on the right front edge for easy access, and are styled to discreetly blend with the monitor's appearance.

The P50XHA30, along with the new P42HHA30 and P42VHA30, incorporates a high-quality stereo amplifier with external speaker outputs and volume, treble, bass and balance controls. This facilitates the monitors' use in multimedia applications or as a complete video plus stereo-audio system using optional available matching speakers.

P42HHA30: Leading-Edge Technologies in a Stylish Package

The sleekly styled Fujitsu Plasmavision Slimscreen P42HHA30 features a widescreen (16:9) 1,024 x 1,024 pixel panel and is designed for superlative high-resolution image quality in every respect. The P42HHA30 can display HDTV images at true 1080i and 720p resolution, as well as 480i and 480p SDTV signals.

To ensure exceptional image quality, the P42HHA30 utilizes Fujitsu's ALiS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) technology, which discharges the electrodes in the plasma panel in a more efficient manner than conventional plasma monitors, to achieve significantly higher brightness and definition, yielding extraordinary clarity, sharpness and color accuracy.

The P42HHA30 provides a full suite of A/V inputs including two component video inputs, S-video, composite video and analog RGB video inputs, plus stereo audio inputs. The monitor's versatility is further enhanced by the addition of a powerful 20-watt stereo amplifier with external speaker outputs and volume, treble, bass and balance controls.

The P42VHA30: Superior Image Quality, Versatility and Overall Value

Representing an unbeatable combination of plasma monitor performance and value, the new P42VHA30 incorporates a host of innovative Fujitsu technologies for improved picture quality and increased brightness, including an advanced-technology 852 x 480 pixel panel.

Designed for maximum home theater versatility, the P42VHA30 can display the output from virtually any video source, and is compatible with 1080i and 720p HDTV signals and 480p signals from a DTV set-top box. In addition, the P42VHA30 provides a full suite of A/V inputs including two component video inputs, S-video, composite video and analog RGB video inputs, plus stereo audio inputs, and includes a built-in stereo amplifier to facilitate use in stand-alone home entertainment and multimedia installations. In common with all Fujitsu Plasmavision monitors, the P42VHA30 offers exceptional installation flexibility and is styled to complement any décor.

The Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen P50XHA30, P42HHA30 and P42VHA30 will be available in the first quarter of 2004 with suggested retail pricing to be announced.

Fujitsu's Innovative History

Research and development beginning in the 1960's produced breakthroughs that led to the first color plasma display in 1993, followed by Fujitsu's first 42-inch plasma display in 1996. The monitor offered an alternative and superior solution from traditional CRT displays, by providing a thin, lightweight display with features such as a viewing angle of 160 degrees and a widescreen aspect ratio.

In addition to the introduction of its first 42-inch plasma display monitor, Fujitsu also worked towards the development of the first plasma digital video processor. The processor enabled Fujitsu to manufacture and introduce the first-ever HD (high-definition) plasma monitor in 1999. Fujitsu's subsequent developments in digital video processing led to the creation of the single-chip AVM (Advanced Video Movement) digital processor, currently included in all Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors.

Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors offer versatility for a wide variety of environments, from home theaters to commercial installations. Delivering powerful big-screen impact yet measuring only a few inches in depth, Plasmavision monitors are designed to outperform all other plasma displays in their respective categories, providing dramatically higher brightness and contrast along with ease of operation. The current lineup of Fujitsu plasma displays offers a host of advanced performance features, along with elegant styling and unparalleled installation flexibility.

Recently, Fujitsu was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Emmy® Award. The award was in recognition of Fujitsu's outstanding achievement in technological advancement and its contribution to the plasma industry.
